adventures in zoo preparation

In anticipation of the Great Zoo Adventure of 2006, I have decided to make a list of everything I love about the Zoo and everything that I don't like about it. Think of it as a Pro-Con List but the outcome is already decided.

Pros:
- fuzzy otters playing in the water with empty plastic jugs made into otter toys
- funny looking polar bears snoozing on a concrete slab
- the Zoo Mobile (and the free bracelet that comes with it)
- lots of photo oppertunities
- a good workout from the walk
- Spider Monkies cuddling together to keep warm (makes for more good photo oppertunities)
- Elephants on Parade (It would be pretty darn cool to have a trunk and be able to shoot water at your Elephant friends.)

Cons:
- the Camel ride is always closed (maybe if I went in the summer it would rectify this situation)
- spending way too much money at the gift store
- the so-called "Canadian" area is about an hours walk down a winding pathway through the bush (maybe this is meant to emerse visitors in the experience that the first settlers must have had upon landing in Canada. If you are looking for more information on this subject, please see the Heritage moment* ) Everyone I have ever gone with says that its not worth the effort so I have never been all the way down the twisty path. Once we even purchased a Zoo Mobile ticket JUST so that we wouldn't have to walk there, only to find out that they went right by the door and you still had to walk all the way down the Path of Death.

adventures in lack of inspiration

Dear Devoted Readers, (all two of you)
It has drifted towards my attention with increasing ferrocity that that there is a significant lack of postage in the recent weeks falling into history on the blog upon which this post is being built. Translation: I am a slacker. However, the good news is: I still am using capitols (just for you Trisha darling).
